The Board of Education recognized the Red Cheetah and Blue Cheetah basketball teams for winning state championships at the Special Olympics Illinois games earlier this month. The teams were recognized Wednesday. #202proud

Congratulations to The Space Page team from Timber Ridge Middle School who bested The Book Benders: The Final Chapter from Ira Jones Middle School to take home the District 202 Battle of the Books 2025 title! All seven middle school teams did awesome! #202proud




Congratulations! The 2025 John F. Kennedy Middle School Spelling Bee winner is eighth grader Khaliyah Olans.
Olans won in the 20th round by spelling the word onyx correctly.
Olans will compete in the Will County Regional Spelling Bee in March at Lincoln-Way West High School.

Nineteen John F. Kennedy Middle School students spent quality time with Eichelberger Elementary School students this week.
As part of a new initiative, the middle schoolers spent their lunch period eating with kindergarten and first grade students.
They also helped at recess and played games.
The day was so successful, the peer buddies program will become a weekly occurrence between the two schools.






Artist Sam Thousand played his trumpet and worked with John F. Kennedy Middle School students on writing and producing spoken and written art. Thousand is part of the Artist Workshop hosted by Jen Gruca, JFK 8th grade English Language Arts teacher and Poetry Club sponsor. #202proud

All afterschool activities and sports are canceled tonight due to the frigid temperatures. Please plan on in-person school tomorrow unless otherwise notified.

Warm up at lunch with street corn chowder today through January 16. Enjoy a hearty mix of roasted sweet corn, potatoes, pinto beans, cheddar cheese, and fresh cilantro served with a cheesy breadstick.

Flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on January 28, 2025 in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away Sunday. Flags were already at half-staff to honor Illinois State Police Trooper Clay Carns, who died in the line of duty on December 23. Flags are lowered for 30 days from the death of a President or former President.
